The parish of Goodworth Clatford covers a large narrow area sloping down the Anton valley and up to Harewood Forest in the East. Delightful thatched cottages border the road that runs through Goodworth Clatford and Upper Clatford, which abuts the Southern edge of Andover. The name Goodworth comes from the Saxon settlement, 'Goda's Enclosure'. By the time of the Domesday survey it had become 'Godorde' and was held by the nuns of nearby Wherwell Priory.
