 | Helping to Shape Conservative Policies |
 |
Our Policy Forum promotes political debate and thought. Currently the Policy Forum drives these main activities within the constituency in four ways:
-
Policy discussion groups We have six discussion groups across the constituency that meet quarterly to debate policy issues. Often our meetings are sparked by a request for input from Conservative Central Office. These meetings encourage 'full and frank' debate and all the views emerging are taken into account. Our conclusions provide input to national policy development and Central Office provides feedback on how the relevant policies have been influenced by our grass roots input.
-
Supper Clubs Four times a year we meet for supper at someone's home, with a guest speaker and an informal debate on some topical subject.
-
Constituency Conference We run one conference in the constituency during each Parliament. The emphasis is on two-way communication and ensuring that North West Hampshire's voice is heard on matters affecting national, international and local government policy. At our last conference, around one hundred people met with eight speakers, including members of the shadow ministerial team.
-
David Cameron's six Policy Groups Members of the party are encouraged to contribute directly to the ongoing debate in the Party. In summer 2006, we held an all-members discussion of "Built to Last", the building blocks of our manifesto for the next Conservative government.
Forum activities are announced through news and diary entries at this site, through regular newsletters to association members and also through branch committees. If you are unable to attend a forum meeting please do communicate your views on policy to us.
