 | James Lewin |
 |
Burghclere, Highclere and St. Mary Bourne Ward
Elected to the Borough Council in 2006, James has lived in Burghclere with his wife and two children for over 20 years. Always very active in the community, James is a past chairman of the Burghclere Primary School Band Association, and currently an Honorary Poppy Appeal Organiser and a member of Burghclere’s Parochial Church Council.
James is working actively with the Joint Action Group to ensure that West Berkshire Council takes fully into account the profound and valid concerns of thousands of North Hants residents for their safety and well-being, as well as the environment, when it considers ProLogis’s plans for a vast and hugely prominent distribution warehouse which, if approved, will dominate Greenham Common, operate 24/7 and bring hundreds of thousands of additional HGV movements every year to local A and B roads on both sides of the county boundary.

 | Ken Rhatigan |
 |
 Kingsclere Ward
Elected to the Borough Council in June 2006, Ken lives in Ashford Hill with his wife Carol-anne and two sons. He runs his own Financial Services Company, based in Basingstoke.
Asked about the key issues for people in and around Kingsclere, Headley and Ashford Hill, he says: “The reason most of us live in this beautiful part of Hampshire is because we value what we have got, the community that we live in and the way of life that we have. I see my role as local Councillor as someone who can maintain the good, improve on the failing and keep this a community that people feel privileged to be a part of.
"In particular I aim to be a strong voice to provide local people with effective representation. I work closely with local parish councils and colleagues on the Borough Council to ensure local views are heard and responded to."

 | Graham Round |
 |
Graham was elected to the Borough Council in May 2008 and is the
Conservative Ward Councillor for the ward of Baughurst & Tadley North.
Graham has lived in the Tadley/Baughurst area for over 25 years and has
always been an active campaigner. An active member of the Baughurst
Society, he has recently joined Baughurst Parish Council and was an
active member (Vice-chairman) of the Village Design Statement.
Graham says "As Ward Councillor I will work to enhance the quality of
life in our ward and to preserve the special identities of our local
communities. I will direct my efforts to support the issues in the
communities outside Basingstoke. With your support I will continue to
strive for the best interests of Baughurst, Wolverton & Tadley North".
Baughurst and Wolverton are very fortunate in being set amongst
beautiful countryside, with many lanes, footpaths and bridleways enjoyed
by the residents of Baughurst, Wolverton and Tadley, so many of whom
walk, cycle and ride horses. Graham will continue his campaign of
many years to preserve the rural nature of these lanes so that they are
not widened into major throughways.

 | Clive Sanders |

 East Woodhay
Clive was elected to represent East Woodhay in May 2006.
He has lived in and around East Woodhay for the last twenty four years and his children all attended the local infant and junior schools before going on to the Clere and university. A Community Governor at Woolton Hill Junior School he is also Deputy Chair of Governors. A past Captain of Donnington Grove Golf Club, he is a Friend of both the Watermill Theatre and Newbury Spring Festival and has been a longstanding supporter of Newbury RFC and Annual Member at Newbury Racecourse.
Commenting on the key issues for East Woodhay he says:
"East Woodhay is a good place to live. We enjoy the benefits of excellent schools, a thriving local community and a lovely semi-rural environment. We have to try to safeguard our quality of life whilst facing up to the challenges of changing demands on our community. These include an appropriate balance between housing need and the risks of over-development.
"We are fortunate to have three outstanding schools but they are all at full capacity, and even have waiting lists. There is no point in adding more housing if there is nowhere locally for the children who will live here to go to school or if the quality of education provided will suffer as a result of the growing numbers.
"East Woodhay may be one of the more outlying parts of the Borough but our needs are as important as those of the more urban parts of the area. It is vital that those needs continue to be forcefully represented in deciding local government policies for the future."
